Skegness - Good Friday Meeting

Hmm, well, there were all the seasons in one lap, or so it seemed. The rain. sleet and snow came down in biblical proportions.

A two thirds event was called and we were drawn in the first and second heats. In the first heat there were a few electrical gremlins which were overcome when the distributor cap was drained of all the 'moisture ' inside. Nothing of note to report as far as the racing goes, Kev was struggling to see his hands on the wheel, let alone the track ahead.

The second heat was slightly better, the car had decent traction along the straights but Kev was struggling to find the braking point to turn the car in on a tight line.  Again, nothing to report as far as results are concerned.

In the final, the weather drew in even worse. I really don't know how the top drivers do it, they must have sonar, as it would be the only way to find a fast and safe route round the track.  ( I must remember to check the rule book for drivers aids and the use of Sonar and other such devices!)  Kev pulled off during the yellow flag caution as the goggles were covered in oil and he couldn't see anything, not even the two stationary cars ( one on either side of the track) as he flew by.

All in all a pretty demoralising debut to the 2008 season, but things will look up, we are sure of that.
